UPSC ESE Syllabus 2017 and New Exam Pattern

UPSC ESE Syllabus 2017 and Exam Pattern Recently Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has notified that they are going to conduct Engineering Service Examination 2017. From this year, the commission has changed the ese 2017 syllabus & exam pattern. Eligible persons had filled the UPSC ESE (IES-2017) online form upto October 26, 2017 till 18:00 Hours. From the year 2017, Engineering Service Examination (ESE-2017) will be conduct in three parts.

  1. Preliminary Examination - 500 Marks
  2. Main Examination - 600 Marks
  3. Personality Test - 200 Marks
UPSC Engineering Service Examination (ESE-2017) written test question paper will comprise two sections.
  • Section I consisting only of objective types of questions.
  • Section II will consist conventional papers.

Section I & Section II (both) will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering discipline viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

Personality Test: In this section, special attention will be paid to assessing the candidate's capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character.

Negative Marking in Indian Engineering Service Examination: The UPSC had confirmed that there will be 1/3 penalty for wrong answers marked by the candidates in the Objective Type Question Papers.

The selected persons will get government jobs/ posted in in following services/ Posts:
  • Category I Civil Engineering
  • Category II Mechanical Engineering
  • Category III Electrical Engineering
  • Category IV Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

Candidates are require to answered the Conventional papers in English and must write papers in their their own hand writing.

Deduction upto 5 percent of the maximum marks for the written papers will be made for the written papers will be made for illegible handwriting.

Credit will be given for orderly, effective and exact expression combined with due economy of words in the conventional papers of the Examination.

Engineering Service Examination 2017 Centre Selection Rules
The UPSC has decided the the capacity of candidates for every examination centre. So the ese 2017 examination centre allotment will be on the first apply first allot basis. Once the capacity of the particular centre attained, the same will be frozen. The applicants who can't select the centre of their choice due to ceiling, they will need to choose a centre from the remaining ones. So the candidates should submit the application from as early so they could get a centre of their choice.
